HS to Switch to Remote Learning

HS to Switch to Remote Learning
Posted on 02/09/2021

On February 9, 2021, the District learned that an individual in the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in the building on Friday, February 5, 2021. This individual is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department on contact tracing efforts. At this point, all families of students and faculty/staff required to quarantine as a result of this positive exposure have been directly contacted by the District. If you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.

As a result of an in-person staffing shortage created by required quarantines, the students in the Jr/Sr High School (Grades 7-12) will transition to our remote learning model on Wednesday February 10, Thursday, February 11, and Friday, February 12.  The Jr/Sr High School will resume in-person instruction on Monday, February 22, 2021.

The Elementary School (Grades K-6) will remain open for in-person instruction.

The District will perform additional cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the Jr/Sr High School this evening and will continue our regular cleaning and disinfection procedures as scheduled.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please feel free to contact the District if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Michael Healey

Superintendent of Schools
