COVID-19 Update: Grade 5 Transition to Remote Learning

COVID-19 Update: Grade 5 Transition to Remote Learning
Posted on 01/14/2021

On January 17, 2021, the District learned that a second individual in the Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in the building on Monday, January 11, and is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department on contact tracing efforts.
At this point, all students, faculty, and staff required to quarantine as a result of this positive exposure have been directly contacted by the district.  If you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.

As a result of this situation
, all students in 5th Grade will transition to a remote learning model Tuesday, January 19, 2021 - Friday, January 22, 2021. All other grade levels will resume in-person instruction as scheduled on Tuesday, January 19th.

In working with the Washington County Health Department, our district feels that transitioning to remote instruction last Friday, January 15th provided us with sufficient time to perform additional cleaning and disinfection procedures in the district and prepare for a safe return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
The remote material pickup scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2021, will still take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please feel free to contact the district if you have any questions.  As always, we will inform you if there are any new cases within our district.

Sincerely,

Michael Healey

Superintendent of Schools
