24-hour Elementary Closure: COVID-19 Case

24-hour Elementary Closure: COVID-19 Case
Posted on 12/12/2020

On December 12, 2020, the district learned that an individual in the Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. This individual is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department on contact tracing efforts. If you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.

As a result of this situation, we will close the building to all elementary school students (K-6) for in-person learning on Monday, December 14, 2020.  Faculty and staff will report to school on Monday, December 14, 2020.

In working with the Washington County Health Department, our district feels that this 24hr Elementary School  pause on Monday, December 14, 2020, will provide our district sufficient time to complete contact tracing, perform additional cleaning procedures in the classroom, and prepare for a safe return to in-person learning on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

All elementary students (K-6) will be asked to work on the packets that they were previously given to complete during a 24-hour closure.

Since this does not affect the Jr/Sr High school or students in out of district placements, in-person learners in grades 7-12 and out of district should report to school on Monday as normal.
